The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a Federal Government funded program to provide support to Australians living with a permanent disability. The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

Participants have three options to manage their NDIS funding – self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed, or a combination of these.

Self-managed participants have control and responsibility for managing their NDIS funds. Providers can be registered or unregistered, but are not bound by NDIS price limits, resulting in a higher potential for fraud and mismanagement of funds. In addition, self-managing NDIS funds includes administrative tasks such as paying service providers, keeping complete budget records and claiming directly from the NDIS portal.

The NDIA will provide additional funding in a plan to pay for a Plan Manager who pays service providers on your behalf, helps keep track of funds and takes care of financial reporting. Providers can be registered or unregistered, but must stay within NDIS price guide limits. Plan Managers are qualified accountants or bookkeepers, and act as a financial intermediary and knowledge base to guide participants through maximising their funding to achieve their goals.

The NDIA manages the payments and administration of NDIS plans for those that don’t have the time or ability to manage themselves. Under this option, only registered NDIS service providers can be used, and must adhere to the NDIS price guide limits.

Support coordination helps participants understand how to use their NDIS plan to achieve their goals, connect with NDIS providers and services and coordinate supports. Often managing many participants at once, organisation and keeping on top of everything is key to success. Service providers can be any person, business or organisation that provides a service to a participant using NDIS funds. This definition covers a wide variety of industries and business types, from sole traders to large corporations, and can include both NDIS registered and unregistered providers. Issues that may inhibit providers from participating in the NDIS can be limited with Payability, such as delayed payment, chasing unpaid claims, increased complexity and reduced cash flow.

Payability has been designed to take advantage of Credability Systems’ “Real-Time” claims processing to provide “same-day” payments. Payability customers have their NDIS invoices prioritised by Plan Managers, with payment being made on the same day as claim approval. The result is a streamlined payment process, reducing from an average of 5-7 days down to 1 day, saving service providers time and effort, and allowing them to focus on improving participants care.

For participants and their carers, there are many benefits to being a part of the Credability Systems ecosystem.

Planability provides portal access to Participants and Carers to view their live plan budget, approve invoices and review a monthly activity statement. This gives Participants the choice and control to ensure their plan is being managed to their liking.
